Birds Eye View
15th February 2016

Thought I’d kick off this week with one from the archive, Birds Eye View is a mini collection of images from a shoot with the amazing Rebecca.

The room in which these images were created is quite something, with stunning stained glass windows and a cast iron spiral staircase to the mezzanine floor. The ceiling must be around 40ft in height. What a location for a shoot. More from this amazing location in future posts….you will just have to make do with this one for now.

Taking only a gown and a cushion as props for this shoot I feel it worked out rather well! Obviously the rather stunning young lady in the shape of Rebecca helps to swing it though!

So, for me to achieve my birds eye view I climbed the spiral staircase and shot from the mezzanine floor overlooking Rebecca, who looks pretty amazing on the union flag cushion..(this added a splash of colour, not that I am one to embrace colour too much, but it works here). It always puts a wee smile on my face when I create something fabulous out of not very much. Not forgetting a little assistance from model & MUA .

So the make up is a little ‘different’. Of course it is…it had to be and it is exactly how Andrew (the MUA) and I had discussed prior to the shoot. I do like to push the boat out on the odd occasion and this was one of those occasions. It’s a long story and I won’t go into it in great detail but the silver was to tie in with the bridal gown that had been dyed by me twice…trying to make it black and as a result of the dye it ended up with a cool selenium tone to it and the details took on the darker black tones. Silver make up was the perfect choice to create this look.

It all worked out in the end, and rather well too…. Improvisation is one of the most important things to have as part of your kit in this game. That and a good imagination!

So some may prefer the colour, others the monochrome, and that’s why I’ve even thrown in a combination of both…..just for the sheer hell of it. Because I can!

It is my hope that I will be returning to the castle as soon as next week to shoot.  I have a few interesting ideas bouncing around in the abyss – that is my head. So fingers crossed everything goes to plan and I will bring you further updates in due course.

Have a great week folks!
